India's Biggest Hotel Chains

Marriott International announced Tuesday on CNBC that it was looking to grow in India until 2026 by expanding its footprint to 90 cities, including many second and third tier ones. President of the APAC division Rajeev Menon said that India had been one of the most strategic markets in the world for the company, that currently has 29,000 rooms in 158 hotels across 42 cities in the country. 

Topping-out ceremony for Europe's largest wooden hotel at Vienna Airport

A superlative hotel is currently being built at Vienna Airport. The "Vienna House Easy by Wyndham," built by the Viennese MAMMA Group, celebrated its topping-out ceremony on Monday morning. The hotel is scheduled to open its doors by the end of this year and will not only be the largest hotel on the airport site, but also the largest timber-framed hotel in Lower Austria and Europe.

Scandic to open alpine hotel in Sälen

Scandic is continuing to grow in Sweden and has taken possession of a newly built alpine property in Sälen with 120 rooms and 16 apartments as well as conference facilities. The property is in a prime location and will offer guests ski-in, ski-out access as well as a wellness area with a sauna, gym and pool. The hotel is expected to open during the 2027/2028 season.

Nobu opens first hotel in Canada with launch of Nobu Hotel Toronto

Luxury hotel brand Nobu Hospitality has opened Nobu Hotel Toronto, marking the brand’s debut in the country. Located in the city’s Entertainment District, the hotel occupies the top floors of the west tower of Nobu Residences, bringing together the brand’s hospitality, culinary and residential concepts in one building.

Report: India’s hospitality sector to attract $1B by 2028

India’s hospitality industry is expected to attract $1 billion in investments by 2028, up from $340 million in hotel transactions last year, according to JLL India. RevPAR rose 16.3 percent from January to March compared to the same period last year. It also rose 8 percent from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Hilton and Ford partner to transform Michigan Central Station into the NoMad Detroit

The luxury hotel will be developed through a partnership with Ford Motor Company, which acquired Michigan Central Station in 2018. The hotel will be part of The Station at Michigan Central, a former passenger rail terminal that's being redeveloped into a district that will have retail, public parks, outdoor plazas and 1.2 million square feet of commercial space across multiple restored historic buildings.
