The platform is built by a team that includes Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and PhDs, Preferabli’s proprietary database is considered one of the industry’s most comprehensive.

Meanwhile, Libation Labs, founded by Andrew Allison and Daniele Delgrosso, has gained recognition for its curated Napa Valley hospitality experiences, including wine tastings, luxury accommodations, hot air balloon rides, and supercar rides.

Both founders will join Preferabli’s leadership team as chief growth officer and chief design & experience officer, respectively.

Napa Valley hospitality

Preferabli CEO Pam Dillon said, “We’re imagining a world driven by individual preferences, using machine intelligence with human touch. Together, our team is now building an international platform of winery and distillery experiences, starting with the Napa Valley.”

Andrew Sussman, Preferabli’s CTO, highlighted the role of the company’s algorithms, which analyse hundreds of characteristics across wine, spirits, and food to deliver tailored recommendations. “Our technology will offer consumers various ways to experience a personalised journey anywhere in the world of hospitality and travel,” he said.

Both Preferabli and Cuvée’s mobile apps are currently available, but the company plans to launch a reimagined application that combines their platforms into a single, dynamic interface.

The move follows Preferabli’s partnership with Albertsons Companies’ direct-to-consumer wine shipping platform Vine & Cellar Reserve, which the company announced in December. The new Vine & Cellar Reserve experience includes guided recommendations and a showcase for wines with similar taste characteristics. Shoppers can also get food pairing recommendations.
