Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim are set to give viewers an inside look at the running of their luxury Scottish hotel in a new Channel 4 series documenting a major expansion of the estate.
The three-part series, titled Our Scottish Hotel, follows the couple and their team of 80 workers as they embark on an ambitious renovation of Cromlix, a five-star Victorian country house hotel near Dunblane that they bought in 2013.
The project includes the construction of a new wing and two restaurants. The hotel is close to Dunblane, where the former tennis champion, 39, grew up, and was also the setting for their wedding in 2015.
Kim, 38, who is the creative force behind the venture, according to the hotel website, said the project was a “learning curve” and the first time the pair have worked together.
She said: “The last couple of years have been really full of change at Cromlix with a huge building project and a totally new direction for fine dining and wellness, and I was really keen to document that as there were so many personal stories and interesting discoveries along the way.
“Andy and I haven’t worked on anything together before, so that was a fascinating process – and a learning curve!
“I’ve loved shaping this building and estate into what’s now become a really thriving and much-loved Scottish business. I hope people enjoy watching the show and meeting the team behind the hotel.”
Emily Shields, commissioning editor for Channel 4, said the series offers a “rare glimpse” of a business where “no detail is overlooked”.
She said: “Kim and Andy are embarking on an ambitious transformation, but at its heart this is a story about people: the team whose hard work brings Cromlix to life, and the shared desire to create something truly special.
“We’re delighted to be bringing viewers this warm, intimate and revealing look at life behind the doors of one of Scotland’s most distinctive hotels.”
In a 2024 interview with The Telegraph, Kim admitted it was “hard work” living with Andy through his injuries.
When a hip injury forced Andy to withdraw from the US and Paris Open in 2017, the Scot lost his first-position ranking to Rafael Nadal while his wife was pregnant with their second child.
“That was really horrible, just to see him on a human level,” Kim, a painter, said of the period. “He’d reached the pinnacle in his sport, and he was at home with Sophia [their daughter], and he was in too much pain to get down onto the floor to play with her. It was really quite horrendous.
“It was very hard living with him throughout that. I was trying to bring up a small child and he was genuinely miserable. He was in pain. Just walking the dog was awful. And I found it awful too, because it was such hard work.”
She added: “It took a lot out of me to support Andy, but I’m proud of the small part I played. He definitely couldn’t have done it without me.”
