Zedwell opens windowless hotel in London’s Knightsbridge

International news
Criterion Capital has opened the fourth London property under its Zedwell Hotels brand, with plans to grow to 8,500 rooms by 2028.

Zedwell Knightsbridge is housed within The Scotch House on the corner of Brompton Rd and Knightsbridge, which was formerly home to a clothing retail store of the same name, and more recently to a Burberry store.

The hotel follows the brand’s existing windowless sleep concept, with “cocoons” accommodating up to two guests which offer a “clutter and window free experience that removes distractions from the outside world”. Features include soundproofed walls, purified air, body-cushioning mattresses, and ambient lighting.

Zedwell’s 728-room Piccadilly hotel opened in 2020, followed by what is described as “London’s first and only underground hotel”, housed with former subterranean car parking space below Great Russell Street and Tottenham Court Road station. These were followed by a 96-room Greenwich property in late 2023.
