Woman charged after leaving 9 dogs, 8 puppies in a north Lincoln hotel room

International news
A woman was charged after leaving nine dogs, eight puppies and a rat in a hotel in north Lincoln. On Aug. 5, law enforcement was made aware of a sanitation complaint at a hotel room in the WoodSpring Suites near Marmot Point Drive and Fletcher Avenue.

According to court records, 40-year-old Crystal Wylie was en route to Rockport, Missouri, at the time and had left several animals behind in the hotel room. The animals had also been left without any water besides a toilet that had been left open.

Officers entered and found animal waste throughout the room. Animal Control said ammonia readings were much higher than permissible.

According to an arrest affidavit, eight Pitbull puppies were found in the bathroom alongside their nursing mother. The pups were thought to be between two and three days old when they were discovered.

Wylie was cited and released. She was later charged with two counts of violating sanitary regulations, three counts of owning a dog without a license, three counts of having a dog without rabies vaccination, animal neglect and prohibited use of dog kennels.

The animals were taken from Wylie’s custody. She was arraigned on the charges Tuesday, and her next court hearing is scheduled for Sept.
