He had been in Las Vegas for a work conference and met Cheylee Kessee, a sex worker, at the hotel bar around 1am.
Jennifer Jacoby, his wife, is suing the hotel, alleging that its security should have identified Kessee as a sex worker, who was purportedly working alongside a pimp named Kashon Glass.
The lawsuit filed in the District Court alleges that Glass accompanied Mr Jacoby around the casino floor at the resort for approximately 40 minutes before joining him at a cashier's cage where Mr Jacoby withdrew $1,000.
The deceased had succumbed to a fentanyl overdose and was robbed by Kessee. Ms Jacoby is now taking legal action against The Palazzo's owner, Venetian Casino Resort LLC, alleging that they share responsibility for his untimely death.
The lawsuit also claims that security personnel should have alerted him to the fact that he was being trailed by Glass. Furthermore, it argues that the casino operator ought to have recognised Glass and Kessee, given their track record of "targeting hotel guests to rob and victimise them".
