He reported the theft to hotel management and the hotel were able to recover some of the cards and cash but there is still a large amount of cash missing according to gardai. An investigation in the theft continues. Sergeant Ber Leetch is Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station.
She told Live 95 News that there are steps couples can take to protect themselves against this type of theft: "I thought it was no harm to caution anybody getting married to have a definite and safe means planned to protect your wedding cash gifts. Guests should look at the many ways to transfer cash to the couple in advance of the day. If you do find yourself with cash on the day I know some hotels provide a safe for the cash, this should be discussed with your chosen hotel in advance."
