Manhattan hotel and restaurant The Mark has accused local rich kid Theodore Weintraub of harassing staff, customers, and the business itself. They claim that after being denied alcohol service with a fake ID, the underage Weintraub hired protestors to make bizarre statements connecting the hotel with Jeffrey Epstein and the Holocaust, according to a report from The Patch.
Weintraub first stopped by the bar, where martinis average $25 and a glass of champagne can cost up to $90, in 2019. He was denied service repeatedly during the same visit. “With every passing failed attempt, Weintraub became increasingly aggressive with those refusing to serve him,” the Mark’s suit reads. This led to management labeling Weintraub “someone not to be welcomed into the hotel.”
About a month later, Weintraub came in for a drink with his father, a prominent Upper East Side cardiologist. After he was once again denied, he accused the staff of being antisemitic and spitting in the food. According to the suit, Weintraub’s father “quickly quelled his son” and told staff he “understood” the situation.
Everything seemed fine until earlier this summer, when Weintraub allegedly began harassing patrons and staff again. According to the hotel, he paid protesters $25 an hour to stand outside of the establishment—which boasts regulars like Angelina Jolie and Gigi Hadid—and volley outlandish accusations at peak business hours. An anonymous employee told The Patch that protestors were screaming, “‘The Mark has mice! The Mark supports Epstein! [The Mark supports] pedophiles!’ All these different chants all day.”
In a video which shows rapper Drake leaving The Mark on July 13, paid protestors can be heard in the background. “The Mark helped Epstein!” they shout.
