His son, Fotis Kokotos, announcing the news, said that his father passed peacefully.
The Greek Tourism Federation (SETE) of which he was a founding member and first president, described Spyros Kokotos as a pioneer in the development of high-quality tourism in Greece, particularly in the Cretan destination of Elounda, stating that his projects changed the face of Greek hospitality.
“His loss leaves an irreplaceable void in Greek tourism,” SETE said.
Adding their condolences, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni acknowledged Kokotos’ importance to Greek tourism.
