Numerous nominations came from hotels in Spain and Portugal, while Italy, Greece, and England followed suit. Leading brands nominated include Marriott and Domes Resorts, while there was particular interest in urban properties and historic locations.
The top winners announced at a gala ceremony in Berlin this week were: Best New Hotel: The Peninsula-London, and Best New Boutique Hotel: Casa Palacio Don Ramon in Seville, Spain. Winners in other luxury categories included: One&Only Aesthesis, in Greece, Savoy Palace in Portugal, Rome Cavalieri in Italy, Forte Village in Italy and Valverde Hotel in Portugal. Best Luxury Train award went to Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
