59% of the new supply comes from new construction, 26% from changing the use of old buildings and 15% from repositioning. By 2024, 152 hotels have already opened, half of them refurbished. A total investment of EUR 7.8 billion is estimated for these developments, of which EUR 5.3 billion is earmarked for high-end hotels.
Andalusia leads the expansion, with 260 hotels and 18,115 rooms planned (34% of the total). It is followed by the Valencian Community (126 hotels), Madrid (66), the Canary Islands (44), Catalonia (41) and Galicia (33).
Next year will see the most activity, with the expected opening of 453 establishments (58% of the total until 2028) and more than 26,600 new rooms, an explosion of sustained growth in the Spanish hotel sector.
