Scandic Expands In Helsingborg And Jönköping With Two New Hotels Under Scandic Go Brand

International news
Scandic Hotels has made a significant move to bolster its presence in Sweden by signing two long-term lease agreements with JV Nordväst Fastighet AB. The agreements involve the takeover of two strategically located hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, which together house 199 rooms. The properties will undergo extensive renovations to align with Scandic’s innovative Scandic Go brand standards and are set to open during the first half of 2026.

The introduction of Scandic Go has witnessed an impressive uptick in market interest, driving Scandic Hotels to ramp up its pace of expansion under this new brand. In 2024 alone, Scandic announced the addition of two new hotels in Gothenburg and Umeå. With the inclusion of the Helsingborg and Jönköping properties, the Scandic Go pipeline now boasts six hotels with a combined total of 851 rooms across Sweden and Finland.

This strategic growth is part of Scandic’s broader vision to target destinations where market share in the economy segment is relatively low. By repurposing existing hotels or converting office spaces in key locations, Scandic is efficiently addressing the growing demand for economy-class accommodation for both business and leisure travelers.

Once these two new properties open, Scandic will operate three hotels in Helsingborg with a combined total of 520 rooms. In Jönköping, the company’s portfolio will expand to three properties as well, with a total capacity of 593 rooms.
