Rooster Hotel achieves Guinness World Record

International news
A unique hotel in the Philippines has recently been recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest building in the shape of a chicken. The hotel, named “Manok ni Cano Gwapo,” is situated within the Campuestohan Highland Resort, in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, and stands at an impressive height of 34.931 metres (114 feet 7 inches).

The hotel’s design pays tribute to the province’s thriving game fowl industry, which ranks as the second-largest in Negros Occidental, following the sugar industry.

The owner, Ricardo “Cano” Tan, noted that the fighting cock sector has provided a vital source of livelihood for many during challenging times for the sugar market.

During the inauguration of the hotel on October 19, Tan expressed his intent to create a landmark that acknowledges the contributions of cock breeders in the area.

Construction of the rooster-shaped hotel began on June 10, 2023, and was completed on September 8, 2024, after 456 days of work.

The project faced various challenges, including the need to withstand frequent storms and typhoons in the region.

The hotel features 15 rooms, all equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning and large televisions, designed to cater to families.
