Det Ch Insp Stuart Round said: "In recent years, we have taken strides on our journey to improve our response to child sexual exploitation. "While operations like Lytton [into non-recent child sexual exploitation] are investigating crimes to ensure survivors are properly cared for and suspects are relentlessly pursued, we are running a number of proactive alternatives specifically to prevent vulnerable young people from becoming victims in the first place." The force said obvious signs included adult males trying to secure rooms in secluded areas for them and underage females for a short period of time, often an hour in the daytime. A spokesperson added that officers had since carried out visits, alongside social workers, to educate hotel staff about how to report any concerns they may have.
