OYO acquired the American budget hotel chains Motel 6 and Studio 6 from Blackstone Real Estate for Rs. 4,551 crore (US$ 525 million) in an all-cash deal, marking its expansion into the US market. The company aims to accelerate G6 Hospitality's growth by adding over 150 hotels in 2025, particularly in key markets like Texas, California, Georgia, and Arizona.
As part of its strategy, OYO plans to grow the Motel 6 website and the My6 app, aiming to increase app installs by four times before the summer season. The company will employ advanced digital targeting strategies, focusing on high-intent customers and forming direct partnerships with leading digital platforms such as Google and Microsoft. The investment aims to reduce G6 Hospitality’s reliance on third-party platforms by driving direct bookings. Additionally, G6 has partnered with HotelKey to improve its technological capabilities across its US and Canadian properties.
