One type of hotel to blame for tensions on Spanish holiday island Majorca, worker says

Jaume Fuster, 27, said that despite the throngs of sunseekers that descend on the island every summer, most ordinary Mallorcans aren't seeing the economic benefits.

A local hospitality worker has pointed the finger at all-inclusive resorts for escalating tensions in Majorca over excessive tourist numbers. Jaume Fuster, 27, told The Guardian that despite the influx of sun-seekers each summer, most Mallorcans aren't reaping the economic benefits due to tourists spending less in and around local businesses.

This comes after a protest was held in Palma last month, where demonstrators voiced their concerns over mass tourism. Mr Fuster didn't attend but agreed with the sentiment, calling for politicians to legislate against overcrowding and improve residents' quality of life.
