Two foreigners, aged 32 (male and female), were arrested on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in Mykonos by police officers from the Police Sub-Department of Mykonos, and a case was filed against them for extortion.

As part of an immediate investigation of the complaint, the Mykonos Police Sub-Department marked the sum of -2,000 euros and handed it over to the perpetrators, who, after counting it, proceeded to delete the negative comments they had created.

Then police officers handling the case intervened and arrested the perpetrators.

The arrested individuals will be brought to the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office of Syros.

It is recalled that a few days ago, two foreigners (male and female) were arrested by police officers from the Tourist Police Department of Chania, accused of extortion, violence against employees, and violations of the law on personal data in Chania. Specifically, two locals (owner and manager), who have a tourist business (accommodation), reported to the Tourist Police Department of Chania that two foreigners who stayed as customers at the accommodation demanded a sum of 700 euros upon their departure so as not to make negative, defamatory comments on the internet.

Police officers from the aforementioned department organized a police operation and the foreigners were identified at the time they were receiving the aforementioned sum of money in marked banknotes.

During their arrest, they refused to disclose their identification, resisted, and recorded the police officers with an electronic device (mobile phone).
