According to court documents, on July 31 Marcum allegedly entered a room at the Magnuson Hotel on East Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach with the intent to commit a theft. Marcum allegedly took clothing, personal care items and medication from a renter of the room.

Bail was set at $150,000.

Other felonies filed by Madison County officials on Sept. 12 include:

• Jeffrey S. Darnell, 54, of Wood River, was charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Sept. 5, Darnell allegedly entered a storage building in Alton with the intent to commit a theft. Bail was set at $75,000.

• Charles A. McCarty, 49, listed as homeless of Alton, was charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Sept. 7 McCarty allegedly entered a building in Alton with the intent to commit a theft. Bail was set at $75,000.

These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
