ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — A man was arrested after reportedly holding his seven children hostage in a St. George Quality Inn and threatening to hurt them.

Officers of the St. George Police Department said they were dispatched to the hotel located at 1165 South Bluff Street at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, on reports of a domestic violence incident.

Upon arrival, police located the suspect, identified as Jonathan Dayzie, physically fighting with a woman.

After the two were separated, Dyzie allegedly locked himself and his seven children inside the room, barricading the door.

Police stated that Dyzie threatened to hurt the children during the incident.

A SWAT Team responded and reportedly had to use force to access the room, as Dyzie would not surrender.

Medical personnel were present and evaluated the woman and seven children, all who were determined to be uninjured.
