IHG’s InterContinental luxury brand returns to Czech Republic

International news
Hospitality group IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a deal to open InterContinental luxury brand hotel in Prague, marking the brand’s return to the Czech Republic. The 137-room luxury hotel is anticipated to open in the first half of 2029.

The property is a historic building that dates back to 1839. It has previously been used as a dance hall, theatre and office space.

Generali Real Estate manages this asset as a part of its European real estate portfolio. It will oversee a renovation project to convert the historic site into the new InterContinental Prague.

Generali Real Estate CEE and Nordics head Ramon Spoladore said: “We are delighted that our first collaboration with IHG Hotels & Resorts will see us reimagine one of Prague’s most historical buildings into an InterContinental hotel – one of the most prestigious hospitality brands in the world. Together, we are committed to restoring and giving new life to an extraordinary asset.”

The Prague signing adds to IHG’s existing presence in the capital city, where it already operates Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre and Holiday Inn Prague Airport.
