Hotel Guest Found Guilty of Stealing a Flamingo

International news
A Canadian guest in Las Vegas has been found guilty of animal cruelty for stealing a hotel flamingo and taking it to his room. According to reports, the man faces up to four and a half years in prison. The sentence will be announced at a later date.

According to media reports, the 34-year-old stole the flamingo named Peachy from its enclosure in early March and took it to his hotel room. The prosecution accuses him of having tormented the bird in the process. According to experts, Peachy is said to have suffered injuries and been in pain as a result of being lifted.

According to reports, the defendant admitted in court that he had no good reason to enter the enclosure or reach for the bird. Defense attorney Joshua Tomsheck argued that his client had been drunk but had acted without malicious intent and had not intended to torment or maim the bird.

The 34-year-old had testified that he had drunk 30 to 40 beers the day before the incident, as reported by Fox5 Vegas. During his testimony, the man broke down in tears. According to the “Las Vegas Review Journal,” he declined to comment on the incident as he left the courtroom.
