Hospitality, restaurant workers say changing jobs is best way to get raise

International news
A majority of job seekers surveyed in the restaurant and hospitality industry, 75%, believe that getting a new job is the best way to get a raise. This is according to a survey of 100 industry professionals by OysterLink, a job board focused on the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Moving to a new job beat out other methods of securing a raise, according to OysterLink. Only 17% of respondents said negotiating with their current employers is the best way to go. And only 8% indicated working part-time jobs or side hustles as the best way to increase their income.

OysterLink says the findings highlight the competitive job market within the restaurant and hospitality industry.

“The industry labor shortage has fundamentally altered the way people view work-life balance and job security,” OysterLink co-founder Milos Eric said in a press release. “This has led to a surge in employee expectations, making it increasingly difficult for hospitality businesses to retain talent without offering competitive compensation and benefits packages.”
