Hoshino Resorts unveils mountain hotel concept

International news
Hoshino Resorts has launched Lucy, a new mountain hotel concept aiming to promote nature tourism in Japan’s numerous mountains.

Named after the explorer Isabella Lucy Bird, Lucy hotels seek to make mountain stays more accessible to a wider audience, with private rooms, modern amenities and nourishing meals to make mountain experiences more accessible – even to first-time hikers.

Located at the entrance to Oze National Park, the inaugural Lucy Ozehatomachi will open its doors in September 2025, offering hikers a comfortable basecamp with various room types, dining options serving local specialties and a convenient on-site provision shop.

As such, the group have identified six key criteria for a comfortable mountain getaway, including private rooms, warm water bidet toilets and unlimited charging and WiFi.

Lucy Ozehatomachi offers three different room types, recognising the importance of private space and comfortable sleep for enjoying time in the mountains, from dorm-style rooms for solo travellers to groups of up to four.
