Hard Rock to open first Maltese hotel

International news
Hard Rock International has broken ground on its latest European project, with the 394-room Hard Rock Hotel Malta set to open in 2026.

The property will form part of a wider €300 million mixed use development in St George’s Bay, which will comprise a 20,000 sqm shopping mall, residences, a private members club, 12 restaurants and bars including a Hard Rock Cafe, a supermarket, fitness centre and spa, events space and a beach lido.

Developer db Group said that the Hard Rock hotel “meticulously preserves and integrates the architecture of the original 1860 British military accommodation quarters, with most rooms enjoying balconies overlooking the Mediterranean.

Hard Rock lost a couple of high profile European properties last year, with the 900-room Hard Rock Hotels London debranding and returning to its previous name of the Cumberland, and Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American rebranding as a Clayton property.
