FIFA 2026 Hospitality: Los Angeles lodging workers are voicing worries over a recently approved regulation mandating a $30 base wage, citing possible threats to the regional hospitality sector. The amount, which was reported by Fox Business, requires hotels to boost hourly pay by $2.50 every year until 2028.
Despite the city’s approaching key athletic events like the Olympics and FIFA 2026 Hospitality, hotel directors argue these will not counterbalance the growing personnel expenditures. Beccaria, a partner at Hotel Angeleno, voiced anxieties that the wage increase could lead to deteriorating hotel standards and postponed upgrades, as echoed by Jon Bortz of Pebble Brook Hotel Trust.
The American Hotel and Lodging Association has launched a campaign in opposition to the wage hike, which has previously exceeded the required authorizations to be placed on the 2026 state plebiscite. The AHLA warns of severe fiscal outcomes, including a potential $169 million weakening in tax revenue and harmful effects on jobs and hotel development.
