Drunk Tokyo cop accused of assaulting Ibaraki hotel staffer

A police inspector with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police was arrested for punching a female employee in the face and injuring her at a hotel in Kitaibaraki City on Friday.

The inspector, who was drunk at the time of the incident, reportedly denies the charges, reports NHK (Nov. 2)

At around 8pm on Friday, Daisuke Kameya, 49, a police inspector at the Fussa Police Station, allegedly punched the part-time employee, aged in her 50s, in the face at the hotel.

The woman was left with bruises on her face, police said.

The inspector was staying at the lodging facility for training and was apparently intoxicated at the time. After the incident, another employee called local police.

When questioned, he reportedly denies the charges, saying “[I] didn’t do it.”

Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
