Corinthia set to open first US property in New York

International news
Corinthia Hotels will open its first US property later this year, with the unveiling of New York’s renovated The Surrey. The hotel dates back to 1926, and is located on the corner of East 76th Street and Madison Avenue in the city’s Upper East Side.

It was acquired by Reuben Brothers in 2020, and following an extensive renovation project is now scheduled to reopen on 1 September.

Features include 70 rooms and 30 suites designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (responsible for the recently opened Broadwick Soho), including four themed suites inspired by the bridges of Central Park.

The hotel’s F&B partner Casa Tua will be responsible for a public-facing restaurant, lounge, and a exclusive private members’ area The Club, and the property will also offer a spa in partnership with Sisley Paris, with two treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna, a salt relaxation room and a fitness centre.

Corinthia currently operates hotels in destinations including London, Lisbon, Budapest, Malta and Tripoli, with forthcoming locations including Rome, Bucharest, Riyadh, Maldives and Qatar.
