Company behind scrapped Milos hotel project told to restore battered landscape

International news
The Environment Ministry has ordered the company behind a canceled hotel development project at a seaside Aegean Sea beauty spot to fill in the excavations left behind by interrupted construction work within one month.

The ministry said Unique Developments, which had launched the project near the iconic Sarakiniko beach on Milos, must restore the area to its original state by removing the underground wooden concrete moulds and metal rods and using bedrock material removed for the work to fill in the holes.

Tuesday’s decision also ordered the company to remove any building materials, portakabins or other installations from the site.

The hotel building permits were revoked following widespread objections to the project.
