State authorities were made aware of the theft after the video went viral. Other screens show the second officer moving the camera to avoid them being videoed, however, the angle still provided a visual of additional thefts from the room. After an internal investigation, the officers were identified and relieved of their duties. The FGE has said that charges will be filed. In a statement, the State Attorney General (FGE) said “the FGE reports the immediate dismissal of two female elements who were shown, in a video broadcast on social networks, stealing valuable objects during a procedure.
“Likewise, an investigation file was initiated to punish this type of behavior by public servants with exemplary sanctions. “This autonomous body reaffirms its commitment to providing justice to the population, which is why the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Internal Affairs will be in charge of following said process against these women.”
