BWH Hotels introduces carbon calculator

International news
BWH Hotels has rolled out a carbon calculator across its portfolio of 230 independent UK properties. The carbon calculator identifies each hotel’s carbon emissions and pinpoints areas for improvement, such as F&B where certain items have a higher carbon footprint.

Developed in partnership with Zero Carbon Forum, the eco tool is tailored to hotel operations and incorporates COP 29 updates and KPIs.

The move follows a growing demand from eco-conscious travellers. A recent survey of 1,200 BWH Reward guests revealed that 67% would pay more for a hotel with strong green credentials.

BWH Hotels also found that sustainability is shaping guest booking decisions, with 88% of respondents saying a hotel’s eco-efforts influence their choice.

Tracy Wilkins, Operations Director at BWH Hotels, said: “We know sustainability is a priority for our hoteliers. But we understand how daunting it can feel to implement sustainable changes that comply with the Climate Change Act and the Environment Bill – especially with recent pressures like rising NI and minimum wage rates.
