Booking.com must reduce commission rates by almost a quarter

International news
The price watchdog has ordered the booking platform Booking.com to reduce its commission rates for Swiss hotels by almost a quarter. These were "abusively high".

Despite intensive negotiations, it was not possible to find an amicable solution with Booking.com to eliminate the abuse, the price watchdog announced on Wednesday. Booking.com will therefore now be obliged by decree to reduce its commission rates by an average of just under a quarter.

The company has three months to implement the reduction. Booking.com announced in an initial reaction that the company does not agree with the decision and will appeal.
