ECHO Suites Spartanburg in South Carolina follows the brand’s new-build prototype, with features including 124 rooms with kitchen facilities, as well as a fitness centre and laundry facilities.

Wyndham launched the extended stay concept in 2022, and is targeting customers ranging from “construction workers hitting the road for month-long projects”, to “travelling nurses visiting a new city for extended periods and digital nomads taking advantage of today’s work-from-anywhere policies”.

Referring to the “white-hot extended-stay segment”, the group said it now has more than 30,000 rooms in the ECHO Suites development pipeline across the US and Canada, with 75 properties expected to be open or under construction by the end of 2026, and 300 hotel slated to open by 2032.

A further six properties are currently listed to open by the end of the year, in US locations including Dallas, Richmond, Sterling and Houston.

Major hotel group are putting the extended stay segment front and centre of their growth plans, with Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott all launching new brands in the last year or so.

And Wyndham itself also recently signed a strategic agreement with upscale US extended stay brand WaterWalk, which will going forward be known as WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham.

Commenting on the opening Philip Cox, owner of ECHO Suites Spartanburg, said:

“Spartanburg, like many other cities around the country, is booming with projects that require long-term, comfortable and affordable stays.

“ECHO Suites is the answer with a well-designed prototype created with the operator in mind. Plus, when you add in the collaboration with the world’s largest hotel franchisor, it’s a perfect match.”
