The Gaineses' 33-room hotel was originally set to open in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic stalled the project. Then Max said that the hotel was initially set to open in October, according to an April press release for the Fixer Upper show. Rooms can already be reserved at the Hotel 1928 website and start at $375 a night.

The hotel is in a building in downtown Waco in the Grand Karem Shrine Building that was built in 1928 as a social club. Chip and Joanna renovated the entire building through a business partnership with the Gaineses' company, Magnolia, and Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners. The hotel has over 6,600 square feet of event space and a rooftop terrace that will have a restaurant called Bertie’s on the Roof.

Other restaurants in the Gaineses' Hotel 1928 include The Brasserie that serves up “Southern classics with a Texas twist," according to Dallas News, and The Cafe that serves coffee and baked goods.
