A luxury hospitality heavyweight who helped turn Six Senses into a global name has landed a major new role overseeing a growing collection of high-end hotels, resorts and residences.
Neil Jacobs has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of a new luxury hospitality management business being created by Constellation Hotels Holding Limited.
The new business will build a global luxury brand around Constellation Hotels' expanding portfolio - which already includes three of London's best-known luxury hotels: The Connaught, The Berkeley and The Emory.
The collection is also set to include the forthcoming Saint-Germain hotel in Paris, a development in Marrakech and Hackwood Park, an English country estate.
The properties won't be losing their individual identities, however.
Instead, each hotel will retain its existing name and character while becoming part of the new collection, which is expected to be unveiled later this year.
Jacobs brings decades of international experience in luxury hospitality and brand building to the role.
He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Six Senses and is also the founder of creative advisory collective Wild Origins.
He will work alongside Gianluca Muzzi, CEO of Constellation Hotels, to build the new hospitality management business from the ground up.
The new operating company will eventually oversee operations across the group's properties and take over management of the London hotels once their current management arrangements come to an end.
Constellation Hotels said the transition will be carefully managed to ensure the high levels of service and guest experience associated with the properties are maintained.
The company will remain the owner and long-term steward of the hotels, with responsibility for investment and the wider portfolio strategy.
Jacobs said he sees a rare opportunity to build something new from a collection of already iconic properties.
Neil Jacobs, incoming Chief Executive Officer, said: "We're in the rare position of forming a new international collection with The Connaught, The Berkeley and The Emory as its foundations.
“Each has a distinct identity and loyal following. Our vision is to build from that strength and create something worthy of what comes next.
“That starting point gives us the freedom to rethink what exceptional hotel environments can be.
“Beyond impeccable rooms and service, our focus will be on places with an energy you can feel as soon as you walk in.
“As hospitality and residential communities increasingly overlap, there is an opportunity to create a richer and more connected way of experiencing them.
From these distinctive foundations, we're crafting a forward-looking global collection, defined by quality, warmth and a genuine sense of joy."
Muzzi said creating the new management business will allow Constellation Hotels to have greater control over the long-term development of its properties and brand.
Gianluca Muzzi, CEO of Constellation Hotels, said: "Constellation's ambition is to be a thoughtful, long-term steward of our exceptional portfolio of hotels.
“Establishing our own hospitality management business is an important step in that strategy, giving us the capability to invest in the properties themselves, as well as in the brand, people and operating platform that will support their enduring success.
Neil has an innate sense of 'what's next' in our industry and has spent his career defining distinctive luxury hospitality businesses with global relevance.
“His experience, imagination and deep understanding of the modern luxury traveller make him uniquely suited to honour this incredible legacy and shape the next chapter."
Who is Neil Jacobs?
Jacobs brings decades of experience spanning hotel operations, development, financing and brand building, and is regarded as a pioneer of purpose-led hospitality.
During his time as CEO of Six Senses, he helped transform the company from a niche resort brand into a globally recognised name known for sustainability, wellness, innovation and experiential travel.
Under his leadership, Six Senses grew from eight to 27 properties, while building a pipeline of more than 30 additional projects.
Before joining Six Senses, Jacobs held senior leadership roles at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Capital Group.
His career has centred on luxury hospitality, design and lifestyle concepts — experience that Constellation Hotels hopes will help shape its new global collection.
With three major London hotels already forming the foundations, alongside new properties planned across Europe and beyond, the company is now preparing to unveil exactly what its new luxury hospitality brand will look like later this year.
